Hello
The following entry is the result of much pondering and one conversation. I can't promise it will be funny or even slightly entertaining, but hey, anything can happen in today's Pop Tart, Dippin Dots world.
Ever think about what you will be like in 15 years? Of course you have, everyone thinks about the future from time to time.
I bet you also think about what kind of parent you would be. That is, if you want kids in the first place. Personally I'd love to have kids when I'm good and hitched.
Today I'm only going to talk about one aspect of parenthood...coolness.
Ok what am I talking about? Good question. How many cool parents do you know? What makes them cool? Is cool the way to go? What are their kids like?
Basically I'm not going to make any sense for the rest of this entry. I'm kidding of course. I'm really going to try to make sense.
My parents are not cool in a worldly sense. They don't have many friends and they don't go out much at all. They are excellent, unselfish people who are content in most situations. I view them as cool because they more than satisfy the criteria for good parents. That is a fairly unbiased evaluation. I could have said, I love my parents (which I do) therefor in my eyes they are cool.
Ok now to the real meat of all this. I theorize that parents who are "Fonzie" cool( Go out a lot, lots of friends, with it) are less successful at raising socially compitant children. These "cool" parents are much more likely to be selfish and materialistic.
Now on to parents who are not viewed as "cool", but really are. Parents who do not go out a lot and don't have a bunch of PTA friends have more time for their children and are less likely to be selfish and materialistic.
Ok I'm sorry if I offended any of you by this and if you'd like to discuss the coolness factor and all of its aspects please contact me.
